JOIN WEBINAR | Breaking Barriers: How Sports & Media Shape an Inclusive Future
WHY STORYTELLING MATTERS From broadcast headlines to viral posts, the way sport is portrayed shapes our world. But what stories are we telling, and which ones are left behind? Too often, inclusive events and underrepresented voices are sidelined, receiving only a fraction of the attention given to mainstream competitions.
Public demand is rising for more ethical, inclusive, and representative reporting. In this evolving media landscape, journalists and content creators are expected not only to inform but also to advocate, raise awareness, and shape public perceptions and policy debates on inclusion, diversity, and equity in sport.
EXPERTS SPEAK A dynamic group of experts from the field of sport, journalism, human rights, and advocacy will explore how media narratives and sports platforms can challenge discrimination, elevate unheard voices, and inspire change. Speakers will be announced closer to the event.
OPEN DISCUSSION From inclusive storytelling to responsible reporting, this webinar invites open discussion on how sports media can shape attitudes toward disability, gender, race, and identity. What role do journalists play in promoting access and visibility? How can institutions lead in setting inclusive standards?
SIMS PROJECT This free online event is part of the Sports Inclusion Media Seal (SIMS) Project, an initiative funded by the European Union for AIPS and four partners (Instituto España se Mueve, TAFISA, ENAIP NET and EASPD) to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in sport through media. The webinar is open to everyone, AIPS members and non-members alike, emphasising the association’s commitment to global dialogue, with a special welcome to Young Reporters.
DATE &TIME Whether you are a journalist, media student, athlete, coach, policymaker, or simply passionate about inclusive sport to drive change, this is your chance to join a vital global conversation:
When: Monday, 14 July 2025, at 3:00 PM CEST
Where: Zoom Platform (registration required)
Format: Introductory panel followed by an open discussion.
