Busan to Host the 2025 World Conference on Doping in Sport — The First in Asia

Seoul , Korea: November 12, 2025:  The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will host the 2025 World Conference on Doping in Sport in Busan from 1 to 5 December 2025, marking the first time this flagship event will take place in Asia. Jointly organized by WADA, the Korea Anti-Doping Agency (KADA), and the City of Busan, the Conference will bring together more than 1,500 participants from around the world — including athletes, government officials, scientists, legal experts, and representatives of international sports organizations — to discuss the evolving global framework for clean sport.

This year’s Conference will feature high-level deliberations on the World Anti-Doping Program, with a particular focus on the proposed 2027 World Anti-Doping Code and International Standards. These sessions will serve as a pivotal moment for the global anti-doping community to review, consult, and endorse updates that aim to strengthen integrity, transparency, and athlete protection in sport. The event will also include ministerial sessions, athlete-led panels, and interactive forums exploring emerging challenges in anti-doping, such as technological advancements, data protection, and education strategies. Participants will share best practices, collaborate on innovative policies, and reaffirm their collective commitment to a level playing field for all athletes.

President of the Korea Anti-Doping Agency (KADA), YANG Yun Jun, stated:

“As the host organization, KADA is honored to welcome the global anti-doping community to Busan. We hope this Conference will inspire deeper cooperation and innovation, reinforcing our shared mission to protect the rights of clean athletes and ensure fair play across all sports.”

Mayor of the Busan, Park Heong-joon, stated:

“Busan is deeply honored to host this Conference. As a committed sports city, we will do our utmost to provide full support to ensure productive and successful discussions. We hope that the decisions made here in Busan will become an important milestone in guiding the future of global sport toward greater fairness and transparency.”

As the world’s leading forum for anti-doping policy, the World Conference on Doping in Sport has previously been held in Lausanne, Copenhagen, Johannesburg, and Katowice. Busan’s hosting marks a major milestone in advancing anti-doping collaboration in the Asia region and reflects Korea’s growing leadership in global sports governance.
