FISU games story

Germany is all set to host FISU World University Games Summer Rhine-Ruhr 2025 starting from 16 July, 2025 at the Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Hagen and Berlin around 8,500 student-athletes and officials from over 150 countries will compete for medals in 18 sports for making this event for one of the largest multi-sport events in the world in 2025. And there can be few better-placed hosts: in these exceptionally sport-loving locations, the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany.

Athletes from 150 countries will competed to win the medals in the 18 sports disciplines including Basketball, wheelchair basketball, archery, artistic gymnastic, Athletics, Badminton, Beach volleyball, diving, fencing, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, rowing, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo,
tennis, volley ball and water polo.

Opening and closing ceremony:
The opening ceremony of the Rhine-Ruhr FISU 2025 World University Games will be held at the Schauinsland-Reisen Arena in Duisburg on 16 July 2025
which includes cultural performance along with light show and parade by the 8500 participants under the FISU flag and the traditional anthem
‘Gaudeamus Igitur’ will officially open the Games, before the volume is turned up and the curtain lifted on the surprise musical stars of the show. A
magical evening will end with the iconic lighting of the cauldron by a leading name in sport.

After 12 days of intense sporting competition and amazing educational and cultural highlights, the Closing Ceremony of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games on 27 July 2025 at Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord is sure to be spectacular. Stunning artistic performances, moving speeches and a barnstorming musical programme will bring the curtain down in celebratory style.
