Hee Don JUNG, newly inaugurated as Asian AIPS President in 2022, has been an EC member of the AIPS since 2013. His career in sports media began at The Korea Times daily newspaper in 1992, where he then moved to one of South Korea’s three major broadcasting companies, SBS, after 3 years. He is a Senior Reporter at the Sports Department, covering numerous domestic and international sporting stories as a veteran journalist for more than two decades. His sports management MBA study at Coventry University, UK has developed his competency on the global stage where he actively showcased in the AIPS. Hee Don was heavily involved in the international organization as AIPS ASIA Senior Vice President from 2017, supporting the successful delivery of global events including the FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea Republic and PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics as a board member of the Korean Olympic Committee.

Adel Bakhit Al-Zahrani was recently elected Senior Vice President of (AIPS Asia) and a member of the Executive Board of (AIPS). He holds a master’s degree in Media and is a PhD researcher. He is currently a board member of the Saudi Sports Media Federation and the Editor-in-Chief of Al-Jeel magazine. Between 2005 and 2017, he worked as a presenter of sports programs on several channels. These include Saudi News Channel, ART Sports Channels, Saudi Sports Channel, UFM Sports Radio, and MBC Group Channels. In total, he presented 9 sports programs and more than 200 analysis studios for football matches. In 2017, he became CEO of the Saudi Sports Media Federation until 2022. He is currently supervising several media committees for a number of international events hosted by Saudi Arabia. These include Formula 1, the Dakar Rally, the Italian and Spanish Super Cup, and others.

Sabanayakan started his sports journalistic career in 1980 in Kolkata with Indian Express as a trainee. After working for 5 years, he moved over to The Telegraph, a local English daily newspaper as senior sports reporter in 1985 and served the organisation for a decade before switching over to the National English daily, The Hindu, as a Special Correspondent (Sport) in 1995.

The newspaper promoted him as Senior Assistant Editor (Sport) and later as Deputy Editor (Sport).

Later Sabanayakan joined the newly launched English newspaper in Kolkata, Eastern Chronicle, as its Sports Editor in 2018. At present he is the newspaper’s Editor.

Sabanayakan’s association with sports journalists’ organisation began in 1983 when he joined the Calcutta Sports Journalists Club in Kolkata and rose to become its Assistant Secretary in 1987. He was elected as its Secretary in 1990-91 and its President in 2008. He laid down office in 2015.

The Calcutta Sports Journalists’ Club, the club sent him to the National federation, the Sports Journalists’ Federation of India (SJFI) in 1990-91, where he became a member of the Executive Committee.

Sabanayakan was elected as the Secretary General of the SJFI in 1996 for a two-year term. Earlier he served the federation as its treasurer. He was promoted to be one of the Vice-Presidents in the SJFI and held the post till 2008 when he was elected as SJFI President. He held the post for two two-year terms and stepped down in 2012.

The SJFI Executive Council created a special post and elevated him to be the Chairman, International Relations, the post he holds till date.

The post ensured that he will represent the SJFI in AIPS and AIPS ASIA and to liason with the World and  Continental bodies on a regular basis.

Sabanayakan was elected as the Vice- President of AIPS ASIA in Islamabad in 2017. He was re-elected to the post in Rome in 2022.

He contributed meaningfully to AIPS ASIA as a member of a five-member committee to probe financial irregularities in 2016-2017. When AIPS ASIA restarted its website he was made the Executive Editor and provided its content. He assisted the Secretary General in bringing out the first edition of the AIPS ASIA magazine by editing most of the articles.

He is ever willing to take up any responsibility for AIPS and AIPS ASIA.

Meisam Zamanabadi is the founder and editor of the Tamashagar news agency. With a family background in journalism, he has been involved in the field since 1996. Meisam has founded and served as the first sports editor for prominent news agencies such as ISNA and ILNA. He also established Iran Pro Sports News Agency- IPNA, the first specialized sports news agency, where he held the position of director. As the inaugural editor of Tamashagar magazine and Hamshahri Sports Attachment at Hamshahri Publications, a widely circulated newspaper in Iran, Meisam has demonstrated his expertise in the industry.

In addition to his editorial roles, Meisam has also been a TV host on popular talk shows like REDLINE and KHOOBI. He furthered his education by obtaining a Master’s in Media Management from the University of Tehran and pursued a Ph.D. in Media Psychology from Fielding University in the United States. During his time in the U.S., he worked as a media analyst and university professor.

Meisam’s contributions to sports journalism were recognized when he was elected as the Vice President of the International Association of Sports Journalists (AIPS-ASIA) in 2014, and he was re-elected in 2018 and 2022. His dedication to the field and impressive professional achievements highlight his commitment to the media industry.

AHMAD KHAWARI MOHD ISA, currently occupying the post of Vice President, AIPS Asia, since 2016, served as EC Member of AIPS for one term, 2017-2022. His sports journalism career started at the Malaysia main daily, Berita Harian, in November 1990 for stint that lasted for 11 years. He then joined the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) as Head of Media where he harnessed his skills and knowledge in sports management. For a brief time, Khawari rejoined Berita Harian as senior journalist, sports, before he spread his wings onto sports broadcasting world, becoming pioneer group who established the first Malaysia sports channel, Astro Arena in 2010. Khawari served the station for 11 years before moving on to be the Head of Corporate Communications, National Sports Council of Malaysia – the post he is currently serving.

A graduate of Bachelor of Communications from the Putra University, Malaysia, Khawari expended his knowledge base when he pursued and completed his MBA with the MARA University of Technology (UiTM) in 2006. He served as President, Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) for five terms from 2009 to 2018.

Amjad Aziz Malik is ranked among the leading journalists in Pakistan. He bears in his credit marvellous services which he has been rendering towards the promotion of journalism in the country; the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa besides making valuable contributions to the projection and encouragement of new talents in the field of journalism started his journalism career in 1982. He contributed to Daily Imroz, Daily Hurriat and Monthly Akhbar e Watan.
Amjad Aziz Malik joined Daily Jiddat in 1985 and then joined Daily Jang in 1986 and served 16 years. In 2002 he joined the first news channel Pakistan Geo News and worked till 2014. He was the Resident Editor of Daily Express in Peshawar from 2014 to 2017 and nowadays is the Chief Editor of Daily Kasoti Peshawar. Amongst commentators, he also enjoys special status as well for having commentary of 268 international hockey matches besides being judged best commentator of Radio Pakistan for two consecutive years – 1999 and 2000. During his 40 years journalistic career, Mr Malik has contributed more than five thousand features, articles, and columns in print media.  In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he is the only journalist, who has written 17 books.

Mr. Niranjan Rajbanshi, treasurer of AIPS Asia in his second term, is the past president of Nepal Sports Journalists Forum NSJF. With over three decades of experience in sports journalism, Mr. Rajbanshi currently is working at BBC Nepali service as sports correspondent. In his long and illustrious career, Mr. Rajbanshi, a mass communication and law graduate, worked as chief of sports in Nepal’s leading national daily Nepal Samacharpatra for 20 years. Recipient if numerous awards Mr. Rajnabshi was awarded as the best sports journalist in 2018 by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Nepal Government and 2022 by the Nepal Olympic Comittee. Mr. Rajbanshi has covered two Olympics Games, five Asian Games, five South Asian Games, World cup football qualifying, Olympic Qualifying and two ICC T-20 World Cups. A well known name in Nepalese sports journalism as “Boss” Mr. Rajbanshi is an inspiration for many new comers in the field.

Sanat Babla, an esteemed sports journalist from Bangladesh. His career spanned more than two decades. Throughout his professional journey, he has uncovered many stories that had a long-lasting impact on the sports arena.
Sanat reenergized the Bangladesh Sports Press Association during his leadership roles, first as the Secretary-General and later as the President. Under his guidance, BSPA received the Best of Asia award and became an exemplary organization in Bangladesh.
Sanat started his journalism career in the country’s leading newspaper, the daily Prothom Alo. During his 26-year career, he has worked for many reputed media outlets and established himself as a renowned football expert. Helen Chi worked for various media outlets in television, print, and radio for over 25 years.
In 2017 she was appointed as the MPC director of the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade, in charge of the production of Daily Reports and providing services to over 1,000 media members covering the Games.
In 2017 (Islamabad) Chi became the 2nd woman in AIPS Asia history to be elected to the executive committee and became the 1st woman to be re-elected in 2022 (Rome).
In 2019 Chi initiated the idea to launch the “Women in Sports Media Platform” to present the voices of sports industry professionals. In 2022, in the collaboration with Taiwan Sport Forward Association, Chi initiated the first-ever Women in Sports International Photo Awards to raise awareness of the issue of gender equality in sports in addition to presenting recognition to female sports photographers by designating the Grand Jury Award to the female photographer.

Basheer Senan was appointed as Advisor to the President of AIPS ASIA on February 12, 2024. He is one of the senior sports journalists from Yemen. Currently, Mr. Senan is working in Doha, State of Qatar. He has been active in the field of sports journalism since 2000 and transitioned to sports management in 2008, serving as Press Secretary to the Minister of Sports in Yemen.
In 2016, he moved to Bahrain, where he held the position of Director of International Relations at the General Secretariat of AIPS ASIA. In 2017, he relocated to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he served as Special Secretary of the Saudi Football Federation, before moving to Qatar as a Media Advisor to the Qatar Olympic Committee.Mr. Senan holds a diploma in sports management from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), becoming the first Yemeni to complete this prestigious course.
