Basheer Senan was appointed as Advisor to the President of AIPS ASIA on February 12, 2024. He is one of the senior sports journalists from Yemen. Currently, Mr. Senan is working in Doha, State of Qatar. He has been active in the field of sports journalism since 2000 and transitioned to sports management in 2008, serving as Press Secretary to the Minister of Sports in Yemen.
In 2016, he moved to Bahrain, where he held the position of Director of International Relations at the General Secretariat of AIPS ASIA. In 2017, he relocated to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he served as Special Secretary of the Saudi Football Federation, before moving to Qatar as a Media Advisor to the Qatar Olympic Committee.Mr. Senan holds a diploma in sports management from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), becoming the first Yemeni to complete this prestigious course.
He has contributed significantly to Asian sports media through various positions and committees, most notably serving as Executive Director of the Asian Sports Press Federation from 2008 to 2022.Mr. Senan has represented Yemen in more than 20 international sports journalism conferences. Additionally, he was selected by the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) to represent Yemeni sports media at the world’s largest sports event, the Best FIFA Football Awards, for five consecutive years.
