Handball at Riyadh 2025 to light up the Green Halls from 13 to 21 November
Riyadh, October 30, 2025: The Riyadh 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games, one of the largest multi-sport events in the Islamic world, is set to take place from 4 to 21 November 2025, with more than 3,000 athletes from 57 nations. The Handball competitions will be held at the Green Halls at Prince Faisal bin Fahad Olympic Complex, from 13 to 21 November 2025, featuring a full programme for both men and women.
Intense Competition in the Heart of the Capital
The Handball competitions will include both men’s and women’s events, each featuring eight national teams divided into two groups:
Men’s Tournament:

Group A: Qatar (defending champions), Iran, Maldives, UAE

Group B: Saudi Arabia (Baku 2017 champions), Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain
Women’s Tournament:
-
Group A: Türkiye (defending champions), Iran, Guinea, Maldives

Group B: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Qatar, Azerbaijan
Each group will compete in a round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals before the Bronze and Gold Medal matches.

Throughout the history of the Islamic Solidarity Games, Handball has showcased powerhouse nations such as Qatar, the reigning champions, alongside Bahrain, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia, who claimed a historic title in 2017. This blend of established champions raises the stakes for Riyadh 2025, promising a high-intensity preliminary round that sets the stage for a thrilling semi-final showdown.
